We are a not-for-profit banking services provider for the entire community. But don’t think “not for profit” means charity. Think of it this way… SSCCU is a financial cooperative, owned and operated by members to provide banking services to each other in a responsive, relaxed, local and friendly environment. Those are the most basic differences between SSCCU and other financial services providers. What does that mean to you? … lower fees for the banking services you need and often higher rates for your deposits… and better loan rates! How can we make banking more affordable? Credit unions operate on a simple and economical business model that has a single focus… members. After operating expenses (like paying interest to depositors, facilities upkeep etc.) and reserve requirements are met, and we have received interest from borrowers, excess income is returned to members in the form of affordable fees, excellent savings and loan rates, and comprehensive financial services. Most other institutions keep that excess income as profits that they share only with stockholders!
You’ll be glad to know, the more business you do with your credit union the better your credit union is positioned to benefit you and members throughout our community.
As a member, your share savings account (Select Savings, SATeen Savings, Select Kids Club Savings) entitles you to a vote in affairs of the credit union, regardless of how large or small your balance. There is no select group of stockholders who benefit more than anyone else. All members have an equal voice and are equal owners.
Southern Select Community Credit Union is governed by a Board of Directors that reviews and establishes the policies of your credit union. The directors are credit union members too, elected by you and serve without pay.

Your Deposits Are Insured Safe
Southern Select Community Credit Union is a state-chartered, "community" credit union, organized under strict regulations that are monitored and enforced by the North Carolina Credit Union Division (NCCUD), as well as the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the U.S. Government. Like deposits at the banks you may be accustomed to, your deposits are insured to at least $100,000, and deposits in retirement accounts (such as Southern Select IRA CD's) may be insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA.

Keeping your personal and financial information secure is top priority at Southern Select. We do not release information about you that we collect in connection with providing financial products or services to you.
The Notice of Your Financial Privacy Rights is mailed to every member annually. You may request a copy of the notice by visiting or calling a Southern Select CCU branch or request one via e-mail to: operations@southernselectccu.com. Indicate “Request for copy of privacy notice” in the subject line and be sure to provide your name and complete mailing address. Do not include any personal information or account numbers in your message or subject line, as this is not a secure connection.
